Initiate a Chat to a friend.

During your chat session, when you want to showa thumbnail of a certain friend, just get your friend’s profile id or name(example, my facebook URL is www.facebook.com/bugits, so take the word bugits – this is the Profile ID)

Now copy the profile id or name and paste itinside double brackets. Example is [[bugits]]

You can now see your friend’s profile picture’sthumnail in chat. This can also be applied to Facebook Pages.

Google Launches Google+ Pages for Businesses

As expected, Google announced on Monday the PAGES feature in their own version of Facebook, the Google Plus (+). In this move, it gives opportunity to brands, organizations and other business outfits to join and interact with their customers who are currently using the social network site.

If you are now in your Google Plus Profile, in your homepage, there is a Create a Google + Page icon located in the bottom right of the page.

There are some pages already built for launch, some of which are All American Rejects Band, popular Android Game Angry Birds and Japanes Car Toyota. Here in Cebu, the Entertainment and Cebu News/Updates Site FaceCebu.net is also been built.

Apple's Steve Jobs dies at 56

Steven P. Jobs or commonly known by everybody as Steve Jobs, the Apple Guy who is actually the Apple Inc. chairman and co-founder died Wednesday at the age of 56.

This news came up after the soft release of the Apple Iphone 4S - Siri.

There was no official statement about the cause of his Death but everybody knew that Mr. Jobs fought with pancreatic cancer and a received a liver transplant. Last August this year, he went down as CEO and gave his position to Tim Cook. Because of Steve, these technology gadgets namely iPod, iPhone and iPad would not be celebrated by the consumers, the market and the world.

In a separate statement, his family said Mr. Jobs "died peacefully today surrounded by his family...We know many of you will mourn with us, and we ask that you respect our privacy during our time of grief."

His Friend, Mark Zuckerberg posted a message to his Facebook, "Steve, thank you for being a mentor and a friend. Thanks for showing that what you build can change the world. I will miss you."

Steve will be missed by the world!

Anyways, this free Facebook Access of Smart is allegedly an update or upgrade of Sun Celullar's 0.facebook.com. This was believed after PLDT acquired Sun's telecommunication company, Digitel. But anyway around, as long as the consumers benefit its major changes, this application is a go-go for everyone. For the record, this Facebook App is not just for all SMART users out there, it just happened that Smart earlier announced its support to this free Facebook service. There would be no surprise if Globe Telecommunications will release its confirmation for the support of the same service.

Eventually, I was not able to maximize the use of the said to be free 5 days internet access to this Nokia X2 bundle with limited Smart sim. I got disconnected after the 2nd day of usage and lost my load after then. But still, thank you to Smart for this new Free Facebook Access.

Better than 0.facebook.com? Yes, a very big yes! In this new Facebook Free Access, you can actually browse and see all Photos you have and your friends are having in their respective profiles. And its free from Charges! Update your status in realtime!

In respect to GUI (Graphical User's Interface), this Facebook Application is a younger version for Facebook Application for Android Phones. You can actually send and upload photos without getting any charge. Photos are uploaded to your album entitled Snaptu Uploads.

Its Home screen is composed of 11 icons; News Feed, Inbox, Requests, Notifications, Events, Photos, friends, Profile, Find Friends, Search and Apps. I bet everybody knows their functions. Furthermore, easy browsing is guaranteed.

At least, I now have an alternative way of accessing facebook in case there is no wi-fi access points for my Samsung Galaxy Mini. Kudos to Smart! How is Globe doing so far?

CEBU CITY, PHILIPPINES, April 7, 2011 - Local and foreign tourist heading to the beach this Holy Week will enjoy underwater photography at the resort tour mounted by Olympus’ tough underwater cameras.

Aptly titled “Olympus Tough Summer”, this event will take place at the Imperial Palace Waterpark Resort And Spa on April 23, 2011, Black Saturday, and at the Maribago Blue Water Resort on April 24, 2011, Easter Sunday.

All guests will have the chance to try the underwater capabilities of the Olympus Tough 8010, 6020 and 3000, which have waterproof, shockproof, crushproof and even freezeproof features.
“A resort tour is very suited to the Olympus Tough cameras, since these are the only cameras that are waterproof and virtually damage-proof as well,” said Alex Bonilla, product manager of Olympus digital cameras.

The Olympus Tough Summer event further serves as a pre-launch of the newest Olympus Tough cameras coming out this May 2011. These are the TG 310, TG 610, and TG 805.
In addition to being waterproof, freezeproof, shockproof, and crushproof, these new models also come with new magic movie recording filters and 3D photo shooting.

Sending SMS from Gmail
You can send SMS messages to your contacts’ mobile phones using Gmail Chat. To do so from Gmail:

1. Enter your contact's phone number in the "Send SMS" textbox
2. Press Enter key

3. A pop-up box will appear, fill-up Contact Name textbox and click Save. Note: if you are located here in the Philippines, the number you entered will be automatically converted to +63XXXXX format and the country field is automatically chosen.

4. After saving it, a SMS Chat box will appear. You can now start sending a text message by chatting. Note: initially, google mail gives you free 50 SMS capability. After that there could be a corresponding charge, not sure though.
5. A text message will be received by your contact in two texts format containing your message and add-ons texts which tell the receivers that the text is generated and was sent by GMAIL SMS Service and putting your email address at the end of the message.

Replying to SMS messages

When you receive an SMS message from a Gmail contact, add the incoming number to your phone's address book (this number is associated with the sender's Gmail account, so you can use it to send Chat messages to that person in the future). Then, you can reply to the message as you would any other text message, and your reply appears as a Chat message in your friend's Gmail account.

Clover holdings got the bid last November for $13 million but failed to populate the site since it is more on links repository which links other links or personal ads, live sex cams, escort services, celebrity scandals, sexy celebrities, and everything or every words associated with the word SEX.

On the side note, PETA tried to own the domain. They write a ltter with the novel suggestion of Escom donating the site to the animal rights group to use for its sexy veggies campaign.

Calling a phone number

1. In your chat list, click the Call phone link

Receiving a phone call in Gmail

1. Make at least one outbound call (Calling a phone number) from Gmail.

Hewlett-Packard CEO Mark Hurd resigns due to sexual harassment?

Mark V. Hurd, the chief executive of Hewlett-Packard Co. resigned last Friday with accusations of sexual harassment and falsifying expense reports. Eventhough, there is no complete details regarding this alleged accusations, the company has already made an internal investigations about the case.

This issue buzzed the company as an unidentified contractor claimed she had been sexually harassed by Hurd. This contractor is allegedly having a personal relationship with Hurd and was reported to receive numerous inappropriate payments from the company.

Even my sister, who is not into technology and stuffs, when she rushed to an internet cafe, she then clicked Mozilla Firefox and typed in www.facebook.com in the URL address. So funny that my neighbors aging from nine years old to twelve, definitely knows how to browse facebook features and of course, its online games.

Users share more than thoughts, tagging friends with their created or designed stuffs, discussing on some important matters in their email and commonly, chatting in each friend's wall or status. In this way, Facebook is shaping the future of online communication. Take note, President Barack Obama won the Presidential race not just with the offline campaigns but he was credited with creation of his account and fan page in Facebook during his 2008 campaign. The same happen to our very own P-Noy or President Noynoy in the Philippines.

Mark Zuckerberg, Facebook's CEO, said, "People have really gotten connected, not only sharing more information and different kinds but being more open and with more people. and that social norm is just something that's changed over time."

In this success, I just hope Facebook will mold its site into a better and friendlier platform and please focus on pornography filtering!

IMAX 3D

To create the illusion of three-dimensional depth, the IMAX 3D process uses two camera lenses to represent the left and right eyes. The two lenses are separated by an interocular distance of 64 mm (2.5 in), the average distance between a human's eyes. By recording on two separate rolls of film for the left and right eyes, and then projecting them simultaneously, viewers experience seeing a 3D image on a 2D screen. The IMAX 3D camera is cumbersome, weighing over 113 kg (250 lb). This makes it difficult to film on-location documentaries.

Just this morning when i logged in to twitter to check on the online Sunstar News when I noticed I sent a status via API (on the first place, I didn't do manually) which led me to get a Web Forgery Report by Kaspersky AntiVirus when tried clicking on the link provided by the message. Computer models show Gulf oil reaching East Coast

NEW ORLEANS — Computer models show oil leaking from a damaged well in the Gulf of Mexico could wind up on the East Coast and even get carried on currents across the Atlantic Ocean toward Europe.

The National Center for Atmospheric Research models showed Thursday that oil could enter the Gulf's loop current, go around the tip of Florida and as far north as Cape Hatteras, N.C. According to researchers, oil could threaten East Coast beaches by early July, but they cautioned the models were not a forecast.

The event was attended by more or less 20 Cebu bloggers who are technology bloggers. There are different booths offered during the activity. We have the gaming Station, Photo Booth, Booth of Luck and Upload express station.

The touch experience feature of every netbooks and laptops may not NEW to us, but IdeaPad U1 delivers a clear and detachable monitor/screen for the main tablet feature. Yes, U1 hybrid functions in two – laptop and tablet. Basically, users can surf the web or do some online blogging activities for bloggers in laptop mode and then continue in browsing without interruption using the tablet mode in which it offers mobility function. What Lenovo ‘s Hybrid Technology shocks its consumers is the benefit of synchronization of two devices which results in sharing battery power, 3G wireless, data and documents. This gadget is estimated to be available this June 1, 2010 with an estimated retail price of $999.1

In the same event, I got a chance of knowing and making a chit-chat with ASEAN Notebook Product Manager Consumer Business, Mr. Jimmy Chin (who I actually added in Facebook) and Senior Manager IDEA Business Unit, ASEAN Emerging Market, Mr. Vincent Song. But before the launching I was introduced to Mr. Francis Ivan Judean, Country Product Marketing Manager who showed and presented to me its Lenovo ThinkPad when dropped on the floor resulted to no injuries and software problems. Very Amazing!

The launching was attended by some print, TV and online media (Cebu Bloggers Society) . A stand-up comedian finished the night with some witty jokes and of course, making “OKRAY” to all participants and attendees.
